The start of the gay5 : Portfolio

first of all im writing this blog for myself.... so any visitors or fans dont expect anything big...

ill just stick to the facts about the origin and replication of the gay5!!!!

ok it was july 30th 2006. i just joined anna university B.Tech Biotech and discovered my new roomie was a gujju!!! wow!! lucky me... And dhaval turned out to be the same exact person i thought. But it was my point of view on gujjus which changed. Coming back to the hostel, i enter this hostel hoping to see many hindi speaking fellas and what do i find, tt and g saravanan! there was tamil all over. arrrgghh.. but then i met these 2 ppl named jagannath and bharat iyer from orissa and bombay respectivly. i was so relieved. i was hoping to speak hindi after a long time but these people were too busy discussing their tamil movies comic scenes... frustrated i went to sleep. first day of college, i see arvind. phew finally some1 who i can talk in hindi with... on my way towards the canteen, arvind introducees another guy in our class, Japesh. he and his jokes were too much to piss me off. i used up my usual fake smile to escape.

then a couple o days later i meet this NRI called bharath KS. that guys was big. i though this guy was interesting and was hoping some fun out there, but he never seem to be interested. i bombarded him with so many questions, but he was like yes.... no..... yes.... no..... geez what an ass... so i sit in the corner of the room thinking what im gonna do with such people.....how boring these people are. im gonna have one hell of a time here. but i never knew that some of life's biggest adventures will be with these guys. and for an adventure freak like me it was just what the doctor ordered.

firstly it was ragging. it was the only time i had fun in college.... me and arvind were considered the scape goats for everything. but that was no big deal. then came our very first outing. there was a guy called parveen. i've seen it everywhere that these weaklings who cant survive anywhere outside home, come to far off colleges thinking they can do it. rubbish... me jagan bharat iyer and thiyagu, took care of his trip and got a ticket for him in black from chennai central to delhi after the charts were put up for the train!!! we got it by paying bribe to some railway official and that was our first glimpse of the outer system works. i dont know about thiyagu but i am sure me jagan and bri considered this an experience rather than a burden.

then over the period of six months the five of us, me jagan bri bigb and jappu got to know each other. Common place--- Atuls' room 211. that was the common meeting point for us.

jagan was the perfect diplomat as i guessed in our very first meeting. i saw the frustration in his face when he used to talk to thiyagu yet he used to smile everytime. i discovered that behind his lazy appearence, there was an intelligent brain hiding there somewhere. and his talking abilities were great. he can talk the proper slang be it english hindi or tamil and convince people with his self confidence. The perfect CR our class could have chosen. but the problem was depending on him was risky. he forgets stuff (i dont know unintentionall or intentionally) , though he pretends as if he doesnt, and so u cant trust him all the times. you will find him dissappearing from the hostel most of the times to secret undergroud places. (we believe he has links with al-qaida). only god knows what he does. but apart from that, there is an adventure freak hidden inside him. his curious mind has no limits and will end up making some story or the other even if there isnt one!!!

next comes bri. this man will start off to be a mystery. looks like a drug addict. looks like a big introvert. looks a spoilt brat who doesnt care about studies. but like the famous saying, never judge a book by its cover. all that is false for this guy. he just has a slow processor but amazing database. brilliant in english as everyone knows. very intelligent when it comes to complex thinking lke judging people but a nincompoop when it come to do the simpler stuff like answering a question in class. oh boy his dialogues r unique "eee bhai" "abeee eeeee" and ofc "main ek second ruka aur socha" lolzzz..... he appears to be the most confused person in this world (ill tell you when i talk about bessi or tirupati). he got lots n lots of patience. he explains every hindi phrase to thiyagu word by word (not anymore!!). he is the best company you can have. he'll talk somthing or the other which will turn up interesting. he always accompanies me in the last bench!!!>. best person to share ur thoughts with. very good with secrets. a very good dmc player and of course, a person with a lot of guts!!! he along with jagan will agree to anything and everything. i hope he remembers valentine's day!! and ya he has an intelligent sense of humour and knows when to talk and when to shut up in a group. the worst case with him is when we want something out of him. he is the poorest in describing facts and stories and a very poor gossiper indeed. but always shows his real interest in it as he doesnt have the tiniest bit of diplomacy in him.

Japesh or jappu as we call him is the most intelligent of the lot academically. he was the good boy/ topper in school. but then he got sick of being called a padippu. so he decided to have the "stud boy" image in college along with being the topper and that exactly what hes doing now. though he sucks when he tries to show off he's cool n all that... his flirting is bad (worst i've seen). typically he's a nerd with license to thrill. always ready for gossips. very spiritual and has some of his principles which he will never overcome. but then he never compromises on the fun part. but this guy tries to do it with the studies and principles part and hence spoils the party (remember kanchipuram). likes talking about his own gossip!! he is good when ur with him in a group but very irritating sometimes when ur alone with him in delhi. tries hard with his mokkais which only the girls find amusing (and the purpose for him is solved). a very generous guy indeed, always sponsors us for food or petol or coffee days!! if his ATM card would'nt have been there, i would've been a beggar by now. always keen on learning new stuff and suck at it. example is hindi of course. a perfect nalla payyan whom you can trust with anything. he has his life most transparent as compared to any of us. everyone knows everything about japesh! if you call him for an adventure, he'll just come for the show off part and forgets the whole point. so he is not completely 'in' in whatever stuff we do. he comes just for the sake of it and show off.

big b!!! as the name suggests a weird fella.... a gaming freak and thinks his life is a game in most of the situations and he has to play through it. talks to himself a lot and only god knows what. always thinks different than any of us - that is sometimes so stupid that u feel like hitting him or it'll be so creative that you'll admire him. we thought he tries to be cool listening to music when we speak and walking alone talking to himself etc etc. but now we know thats how big b is. hes not the bravest of persons but he doesnt care what we're doing but still he'll be with us everytime just cuz he likes us. this guy is a true one woman man and would never ditch his girl ever. likes to eat a lot and looks for some reason or the other reason to go to raghul's place. aLWAys ready to go out of the hostel, be it where ever u like. a loser by nature though. thats the only way he's not gifted. but he works hard to compensate it and has already succeeded.. we try hard not to show off the sypathy factor on him and thats exactly what he wants us to do. otherwise he's a great fella with an amazing sense of humour and energy. he the nice cute big B of our class and the sweetest part is, he hates if ppl call him that!! he is the least into gossips of us five and comes around with us just to be with us. sometimes he does try to show off that he's interested in gossips but doesnt last for minutes cuz theres is simply just one thing he can think of these days.......

and of cours the fifth member is me arun. unlike the others i like describing myself a lot but if i start now, ill go on and write a book and still be not satisfied. so ill leave my part at the moment.

so there they are the gay 5 as we call ourselves!

being out of the box is what we looked for. the independence days, republic days are examples of stupidity. our first real trip was pondicherryin jan 2007! pongal vacations. the beach was awesome. jus the five of us (-jagan -japesh -bigb +arvind +raghul +dhaval) and all due to a sudden plan. similarly there was this skit for btx in feb 2007 which made us work hard and some new experiences for us. speaking of experience, our best trip till then was the MGM trip in feb. it was just 25-30 ppl but still it was fun. then came the frequent visit to raghul's place. this is one of the major reasons for us to gossip. Then came the DUKHI parivaar. and the gay5 became the gossip5 cuz every other day there was some issue or the other to gossip on. but we never used to talk in hostel. so mostly it used to be ccds or some dinner place outside or raghul's place. Then came the pondicherry trip with class which was ok and there was a lot to be organised by us in that. but the freshers was a big big flop. none of the 5 except probably me n jappu were into ragging. then the DUKHi parivaar reached its hieghts during the trek to perambikulamthere were some 35-40 of us and gossips all around. the only person missing was jagan but the 4 of us were enjoying the sight to the max.

then came the biggest of them all, the golu festival for the tamils and durga puja for the bengalis. i read in the chennai chronicle that durga puja was held in besant nagar. there was this trend in The DUKHI that every1 were supposed to visit each others homes for golu. so it was raghul's place this time and we all gathered there. except for japesh who went for golu at his friend ramya's place.so i suggested why dont we go to this durga puja held at bessie to make the night grand. as usual the five of them (-japesh +Atul) agreed and we went to bessie......................................................................... the rest will come over in the next post
